President’s Letter – November 2018

WE DID IT! This fall was one of the busiest event season in HKNA history! We just came off our 20th Anniversary celebration for our award winning home tour – BungalowFest!  We hosted our 2nd annual Dining for Art Fundraisers for our public art projects in various homes throughout Historic Kenwood. We closed off the fundraiser with a Grand Mingling reception at the new Kenwood Gables Boutique Bed and Breakfast!  We hosted our 3rd annual Halloween decorating contest. We kicked-off Sunday Yoga by SukhaLife in Seminole Park. We hosted our first HKNA School Board Candidate Forum with local parents and neighboring communities – as HKNA is committed to rebuilding our public schools. HKNA new residents also kicked off some private events as well. Jen and Alec Smith hosted an Oktoberfest Potluck at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard courts. Jamelia, Tony and Annabella Triola hosted a Halloween Pool Party – and Jacqui and husband hosted their 2nd annual Oktoberfestivus. All three of these families opening their doors to neighbors and keeping our Historic Kenwood values of showing neighborly love alive. Thank You!  HK Partnership kept our neighborhood looking beautiful with our monthly clean ups. HKNA also sponsored some cool events such as Come Out St Pete, Movies Under The Star and St. Pete Votes!  Satori and Blake celebrated a wedding anniversary. While new residents Mandy Gomez and Richard Dilorio celebrated their nuptials. And our Kenwood Kidz “Baby Lawson” turned O N E!  Be sure to show love and send well wishes to all these young families who contribute so much to our neighborhood! And when you see a volunteer – give them a HUG. It always takes a village.

In Historic Kenwood there is something for everybody. For us personally, our quality of life improved the day we purchased our first home and fellow Susan and Jeremiah Rohr gave us a warm welcome and immediately after Debbie Armstrong dropped off a welcome basket. We are all surrounded by the love of neighbors who remind us of all that we have to be grateful for.

We are also surrounded by local business who love us and contribute to our countless events. For the “Grand Mingling” – Creative Event Partners, Lolita’s Wine Bar, Waverly’s Florist & Event Design and Style House Rentals donated time and resources to ensure that the Grand Mingling was a huge success. In addition, Cappy’s Pizzeria, Simply Delicious, Punky’s Bar and Grill, Hawthorne’s Bottle Shoppe, Pom Pom Teahouse are just a few of the local business who always offer affordable catering options for events in Kenwood – private or HKNA sponsored. We are grateful for our partnerships and business.

A rich life comes from giving to each other. That is who we are in Historic Kenwood!  Please be sure to join or renew your HKNA membership today via our website and become part of our family. Happy Thanksgiving!
