Stephen Gould

I am a songwriter, composer/arranger, African djembe drum player, former school principal, K-12 assistant superintendent, professor and teacher.

I hold a BM in Composition from Berklee College of Music, an MA in Arts Administration from Fitchburg State University and an EdD in Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction from UMASS/Amherst.

I studied djembe with Mamady Kieta and Famoudou Konate in Guinea, West Africa. I have composed numerous documentary film scores, written many classroom and playground songs for children. I wrote music for the original “Saturday Night Live” and my CD “Talkin’ on Myself” is available on BandCamp. I have taught djembe and performed for African dancers in Cambridge, MA and St. Petersburg, FL.
