Dining for Art Goes South

February 5 @ 6 p.m.

Drive 12 minutes south of Historic Kenwood to partake in Southern comfort food – recipes from Laura’s grandmother. Enjoy smothered chicken, rice and white gravy, green beans with bacon, and biscuits (of course), along with delicious appetizers and desserts – and adult beverages.

Wander the Mediterranean

February 19 @ 5 p.m.

Progressive Dinner: Experience three date nights in one evening, as you travel the Mediterranean – and our neighborhood – for a unique dining experience.

Stop one will be Middle Eastern-inspired appetizers and drinks with a cocktail party vibe at the home of Steve Gould and Sharon Zimmerman.  You will nosh on savory tidbits while enjoying music by Steve as he plays the African Djembe.

Stop two will be an Italian bistro at the home of Lewis and Michelle Ribner.  Multiple entrees – including gluten free and vegetarian options – will be available for your dining pleasure.

Stop three will be the “sweet shop” at the home of Bryan and Katie Klopfenstein.  Your choice of dessert from Italy (tiramisu) or France (macaroons) while Bryan entertains on the violin.

All three homes are within walking distance of each other in the southeast quadrant of the neighborhood.  All hosts are fully vaccinated and boosted – and guests must be as well.  Gatherings will be outside if weather permits; all homes can comfortably accommodate our maximum of 16 total participants (including the hosts).

Feast on hor d’oeuvres and enjoy boozy brunch drinks while checking out local art and listening to music with neighbors at Chris and Kelly Arnold’s loft in the old Nolen’s Grocery building at the corner of 23rd St and 1st Ave N.

Fat Tuesday in Style!

Celebrate Fat Tuesday in Style! Featuring lively music, incredible authentic New Orleans cuisine and the fascinating artwork of Paul Barrera who lived in Louisiana for many years. Paul is an abstract artist, musician and painter. He is from Bogota Columbia and moved to Louisiana at the age of 4. Paul became a resident of St Pete in 1978. His love of music and art has fueled his desire to learn and experiment with various techniques and styles. In painting his abstract expression strive to be fun, colorful and intriguing.

We understand that the pandemic has taken a toll for everyone. Some people are worried about gathering outside of their bubble, some people are just tired of being tired. As an alternative to “dining together for art”, here are some additional ways to participate in this community event. Your fee for the following is considered a donation to the Public Art Fund and you get some delicious treats in return.

Sweeten Your Morning with Homemade Granola

Enjoy some crunchy, cinnamoney goodness with your yogurt or oatmeal.  (Or put it on top of ice cream, we won’t tell!)  Homemade granola featuring oats, coconut, and pecans, sweetened with maple syrup and honey.  

$10 for a 3-cup resealable bag made just for you and delivered to your door.

Homemade Southern Biscuits and Jam

1 dozen full of butter Southern style biscuits with homemade jam.

Homemade biscuits made with buttermilk, butter, aluminum free baking powder all from the Tennessee Mennonites. Chad learned his technique from his Mom (of course!) and also from Scott Peacock, the biscuit maker of all time.

Can be easily frozen and then just pop in the oven.

Available for drop off or pick up. Get them while they are hot!

Eggplant Meatballs with Zucchini Zoodles

Enjoy a full meal with Paula’s delicious eggplant meatballs made with eggplant, almond flour and egg atop a pile of zucchini “zoodles” with marinara sauce (gluten free and vegetarian). Each individual dinner will be in a microwavable container and available for pickup between 4 & 6 pm on February 12.

This can easily be frozen to enjoy on another day.
