Hope and Friendship 12-22-2011
We have a story of hope and friendship for the New Year.
Our bungalow caught on fire at the end of November, starting an amazing
reaction from our neighbors, the Historic Kenwood Community, and the City of St.
Pete. Our neighbors alerted us of the fire, helped us get to safety and
gave us refuge (and a shoulder to lead on) as the night went on.
We also cannot say enough of the professionalism and compassion of the
firefighters as they fought our house fire and moved our belongings so they
would be spared major damage.
Offers of places to stay, meals and “anything you need” poured in and we
continue to receive offers of help each time we are at our house. Of
particular note, we received a touching financial donation from the Historic Kenwood
Garden Workshop and another anonymous donor. We will “pay it forward”.
While this was not our normal Christmas – one when we would decorate our
front porch and keep the Historic Kenwood spirit going – we have been blessed with
the true spirit of the season – friendship. We look forward to
rebuilding in the greatest neighborhood ever!
Thank you everyone. It is an honor to be residents of Historic Kenwood.
God bless you, Historic Kenwood and friends!

Mom says "Thanks"
Excerpts from a letter from our adopted family who received food and gifts from us during the 2009 Holiday season:
As you know I am a single mom with three children. They are my pride and joy. When the holidays rolled around my hours were bouncing all over the place. I was doing my best to keep up with all my bills. All I kept asking myself was how am I going to get a tree? What am I going to do about gifts?
This Christmas me and my children were truly blessed. I want everyone to know they are truly special in God's eyes. Our Christmas tree was so beautiful. Thank you so much! We had such a great time decorating it. The evening Sue and Bill brought over the gifts, I was again speechless. Sometimes I don't show my emotions in front of people but when Sue and Bill left, I cried tears of happiness.
From the bottom of my heart, the food, gifts, Christmas tree, I thank you all so much. Words really can't describe how thankful I am.

Blooming Place for Kids
Excerpts from a thank you letter:
On behalf of Blooming Place for Kids and the children we serve, thank you for your generosity and support for our programs. The impact your support makes on neglected, abused and at risk children of Blooming Place for Kids is forever. Our kids are everyone's children, without the generosity of private individuals and organizations such as yours, their futures are lost.
As a partner with Blooming Place for Kids, you know that your generosity and support helps to build futures and give our kids hope.
Thank you for your continued support and as the economy continues to spiral, please remember the impact your support makes on the children.

CASA (Community Action Stops Abuse)
Excerpts from a thank you letter:
Because of you, we will glide through the holiday season confident that we have everything we need to give families the safety, resources and love they need during a time of year that should always be filled with peace and joy. We know your generous donation was filled with empathy, understanding and love for all families in this community., We thank you for making such a gracious statement.
I say this so often, but I feel I must say it every time . . . I cannot express enough how grateful we are for your support. Women and children fleeing from violence have no place to go without your help.

Mom & Dad See Kindness
Excerpts from a letter from our adopted family who received food and gifts from us during the 2008 Holiday season:
This is to say thank you to every blessed soul who reached out to our family during the holiday season which would not have been special without you all. Your kindness was genuine and unexpected but greatly appreciated by our family. The wonderful generosity you displayed for us brought everyone great joy and enjoyment.
May God keep his light shining brightly upon you all every day of your lives, not just because of your kindness to us but because of who you are. Life is about sharing, caring and giving, loving and living.
