HISTORIC KENWOOD HOSTS ST. PETE PRIDE
At right, is our depiction of the movie "Sordid Lives" for our float theme for 2011. -->
We do have some "home-made" videos of our entries in the Pride parade.
In St. Petersburg, Pride celebrations center around a handful of events throughout late June, culimating with a street festival and parade on Saturday. On Saturday morning, the popular St. Pete gay bar, Georgie's Alibi (you may know it from Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, where there are two other branches) hosts the Georgie's Alibi Pride in Paradise Promenade at 10 am. This official St. Pete Pride parade begins right across from the bar, in the parking lot at 31st St. N and 3rd Ave. N. The parade proceeds right through the heart of the Historic Kenwood neighborhood toward the St. Pete Pride Festival on Central Ave.
Following the parade, the St. Pete Pride Street Festival takes place from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The festival, with nearly 300 vendors, food providers, and GLBT organizations, runs along Central Avenue between 21st and 28th streets. HKNA FLOAT AND BOOTH
The Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association is proud to participate in St. Pete Pride. Each year, Kenwood volunteers design and build a float, march in the parade, and greet visitors at an HKNA booth at the street festival. Watch a video of our 2010 float.
