Hi Neighbors :)
The reason I am contacting you today is of concern to all neighborhoods in the Tampa Bay Area. As you might know, we have had a problem with individuals stealing water fowl from our city parks and public lakes. The last known case happened on Saturday, August 1, 2009 when allegedly, Austin Corley struck again at Crescent Lake in St. Petersburg, FL. This time, the 19 year old and a friend may have stolen three adult geese and an undisclosed number of ducks from the public lake to sell to restaurants or at livestock auctions.

Even though this is in direct violation of St. Petersburg, FL, City Ordinance ARTICLE II. PARK RULES, Sec. 21-48.(a) Wildlife; domestic animals generally, which states that “It is unlawful to pursue, catch, molest or kill any animals in any Park, or disturb the nest, den or burrow thereof except to fish as allowed pursuant to this Article,” nobody has stopped Corley or the likes of him.
A number of neighbors have decided to do start a petition to convince the City of St. Petersburg and the State of Florida to do something about this. Please sign this petition if you want the City of St. Petersburg, as well as the STATE OF FLORIDA, to pass and ENFORCE stronger laws that prohibit the catching, molesting, or killing of any animal in any Park in Florida, or disturbing the nest, den or burrow of any such animal.
This concerns all of us, because we need to work together to keep these criminals out of our neighborhoods. So even if your neighborhood does not have a park or lake, please consider passing this on to the members of your neighborhood association and/or neighborhood watch-group.
I am enclosing the link to the electronic version of this petition (please make sure to click on “sign” in both windows for your signature to count):

A Good Idea...
Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, & the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:
It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar rapist won't stick around.... After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there ..... This is something that should really be shar ed with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.
