HISTORIC KENWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION (HKNA)
Our neighborhood association is very active(375 members in 2011) and is a positive force in promoting a genuine sense of community among our residents and enhancing the character and beauty of our neighborhood. We work closely with the City of St. Petersburg, and we also undertake specific initiatives and activities that help us achieve our goals.
LOTS OF VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES - ALL MAKING KENWOOD A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE
As you'll see on various pages throughout this website, HKNA is involved in a wide range of activities - everything from BungalowFest (our biggest annual event celebrating our treasure trove of historic homes) to monthly porch parties and other social activities, to our Historic Preservation and Home and Garden Awards that promote restoration and beautification. Our nature is to be very open to ideas and proposals initiated by individuals. In fact, most of the activities you'll read about here have come about through the interest and willingness of our residents to volunteer their ideas, talents, and time. The result is a vibrant, engaged community of neighbors who enjoy coming together and making Kenwood an ever-more desirable place to live.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
We welcome all Kenwood residents -- renters, homeowners, and proprietors of businesses -- to participate in HKNA. While we encourage residents to support our organization with membership dues at whatever level is comfortable for them, there is no monetary requirement to participate fully and give inpute on issues. Members are allowed to vote on issues and at our annual election of officers and board members.
